As is tradition in France, our ePals sent us a holiday greeting card in January. We learned how to say Happy New Year in French. Bonne Année! We also received a package with Galettes des Rois (King's Cakes) with delicious almond filling to share in their celebration of l'Epiphanie on January 6.
The month of January has brought with it a new class for my Grade 7 B day students to correspond with. We have just begun receiving and discussing hand-written letters from a middle school class in Marseille, France. As we begin our Unit 3 which focuses on descriptive words in French, we will be responding and describing ourselves to our ePals in French. We will also be putting together our 2nd Boîte Culturelle (Culture Box) to mail our ePals before February break. They will also send one to us in the next months. It is fun to discover cultural artifacts and share this way.
