This week the grade 7 classes which meet on A days received letters from a city in France called, Angoulême. We are traveling virtually to their city using Google Earth and comparing and contrasting their culture with our own. We are visiting their city and school websites to gather more data. We are breaking down possible cultural stereotypes by explaining to our epals how we celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving. We are using basic French to ask them how they are doing, talk about likes and dislikes, and describe ourselves. We enjoyed receiving typical French bonbons! We sent them a Halloween package sharing our favorite candies as well. We look forward to more cultural sharing and global collaboration around the holidays! A plus!
We are very excited to examine cultural artifacts (Standard B=Culture) as we open up our first culture box from our epals in Cassis, France!
Our first Boiˆte Culturelle arrived from Cassis, France! The middle school class which sent it is corresponding with our Grade 8 classes. This week during class we will open the box together and examine the culture artifacts inside. We will write entries in our Epal Journals documenting what we received from France, and what we learned about culture. The box also contains hand-written letters from our ePals! Next week we will read the letters, enter new language learned in our ePal journals, and respond to our new French friends both in French and in English.
My grade 7.1B class received their first email correspondences from their ePals located in Cannes, France and will get busy responding and entering new language learned in their ePal journals, too.
